There was this one time when my fave, My Style Vita, and I found ourselves open for lunch on the same day and the same time. GASP…it actually does happen occasionally! Luckily, she loves to eat as much as I do so we headed down to Marcel Atlanta for some delicious lunch and catch up session. And dessert, duh. We never skip dessert.
Located in the White Provisions area of West Midtown and newly opened for lunch, Marcel is the newest concept from Atlanta favorite Chef Ford Fry. Both the menu and the interior are designed with a European-inspired steakhouse concept in mind. Where as retro-themed restaurants aren’t necessarily in short supply, this one does it right by sticking to classic throwback steakhouse flavors with just the right amount of moody vintage vibes. The dimmly lit interior and plush leather booths, vintage photographs lining the dining room along with a sleek and sexy bar transport you into an era long gone. In the best possible way. It’s exactly where I want to eat lunch. And dinner. And if they ever start serving breakfast, I’ll be there for that too.
We snacked on a few different dishes, including a delicious version on an iceberg wedge topped with crispy oysters and a decadent Croque Madame that I find myself still reminiscing about. Dessert was a highlight, for sure, with a creme brulee (my favorite) that put many others I’ve had to shame and a Mille Crepe Cake that was as delicious as it was beautiful. If this is what they’re serving up for lunch, I cannot wait to try dinner.
In addition to a great menu, Marcel boasts a staff that truly goes above and beyond for each guest and a few special touches, like custom china and what might be the most fun bathroom in the city, that make the visit really memorable. I won’t spoil the bathroom surprise, just check it out the next time you find yourself here 😉
